LISC
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Jacksonville is a chapter of a national nonprofit organization whose goal is to help neighborhoods build communities through efforts ranging from building affordable housing to creating commercial opportunities. After a communications audit and evaluation, it was determined that their brand awareness level in the Jacksonville community was low, a real problem when your support depends on people knowing what you do. To remedy the problem, Scott-McRae put together a dynamic public relations program.
First, we tweaked their theme line that positioned LISC’s important role. “The local expert on helping neighbors build communities”. The line appeared on all their communications. We also brought synergy to the organization by designing its annual report, a tour guide, website and newsletter, all of which share its new branded design. The annual report has been produced and has already received rave reviews. It will be mailed to a list of community leaders. The public relations plan includes regular news releases about things that LISC is doing in the community along with outreach to local media for Q & A sessions. We are also conducting a media-training program for LISC local advisory board members, staff and the executive directors of the community development corporations. Our efforts have already resulted in a front-page article in the Florida Times-Union.
